Product description:
Coal tar is a thick black or brown liquid called coal tar. Smell similar to naphthalene or aromatic hydrocarbons. It is a by-product of the process of retorting coal to produce coke and gas. The composition is complex, mainly a mixture of phenols, aromatic hydrocarbons and heterocyclic compounds. It is carcinogenic and belongs to IARC Class I carcinogens. Mainly used for fractionation of various phenols, aromatic hydrocarbons, alkanes, etc., and can be used to manufacture other dyes or drugs. The current coal tar industry also involves direct combustion as a fuel.
Appearance and properties: black viscous liquid, with special odor.

Application:
(1) Naphthalene is used to produce phthalic anhydride for the production of resins, engineering plastics, dyes. For paint and medicine.

(2) Phenol and its homologues produce synthetic fibers, engineering plastics, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, fuel intermediates, explosives, etc.

(3) Anthracene to anthraquinone fuel, synthetic kneading agent and paint.

(4) Phenanthrene is an isomer of anthracene, the content is second only to naphthalene, and has many uses, due to large yield, it needs to be further developed and utilized.

(5) Carbazole is an important raw material for dyes, plastics and pesticides.

(6) Asphalt is a tar distillation residue, a mixture of a variety of polycyclic polymer compounds. Used for making roof coatings, moisture barrier and road construction, production of asphalt coke and electric furnace electrodes.

Processing introduction:
The main process of coal tar processing is distillation, which is to use the different boiling points of various compounds in coal tar to cut coal tar into several fractions with different boiling points. Coal tar pitch is the residue after distillation of coal tar, and its yield is about 55% of that of coal tar. According to different softening points, three specifications of asphalt are produced industrially: soft asphalt: the softening point is 65-75°C. Medium temperature asphalt: softening point 75 ~ 90 ºC. Hard asphalt: The softening point is higher than 90°C. Among the three kinds of asphalt, medium temperature asphalt is the most widely used, and the quantity of industrial production is also large. At present, the main use of coal tar pitch is as a binder for the production of activated carbon, a binder for coal briquettes, refining pitch coke, carbon black and paving materials.
