It is mainly used as the lining material of various heating furnaces, sintering furnaces, annealing furnaces, soaking furnaces and electric furnace tops in metallurgical industry. The traditional high alumina plastic has poor volume stability at high temperature and is easy to flake off, which results in the destruction of the whole structure of the furnace lining. The sillimanite plastic has the characteristics of high temperature strength, good thermal shock resistance, and not easy to peel, which can greatly extend the service life of the kiln. At high temperatures, the expansion of sillimanite in plastic counteracts the contraction of raw materials such as clay, and improves the volume stability of the material. In addition, the introduction of sillimanite into the plastic also improves the slag resistance and thermal shock resistance of the material. With the increase of the amount of sillimanite added, the load softening temperature and thermal shock resistance of the plastic increased, and the change of the line after firing changed from contraction to expansion, and the expansion became larger and larger, but the change of porosity, bulk density and pressure strength at room temperature was not obvious. Adding proper amount of sillimanite to the high aluminum ramming material can increase the volume stability of the material and improve the service life of the ladle lining. For the outer refining of molten steel furnace, the ladle lining refractory is usually made of high aluminous plastic made of natural raw materials kyanite and Chinese bauxite clinker developed earlier by the Ukrainian Refractory Research Institute. As far as Russia is concerned, high aluminum raw materials are scarce, so it is of practical significance to replace Chinese bauxite clinker with kyanite-sillimanite concentrate which is not very scarce.
